Tesla vehicles and the continued accidents caused by their drivers have raised concerns regarding the long-term viability of self-driving vehicles. They have created a negative impression in the market for the consumer. This study gives a brief introduction related to the self-driving and autonomous vehicle autonomy levels, followed by statistics related to various accidents reported by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The data covers the number of such incidents, minor through major with fatality reports from January 2020 to July 2021 from various cities in California. It is concluded that analyzing the accidental data from the past years provided by the department of motor vehicles and working on environmental aspects and precision would help the vehicle industry make it a safer, efficient driving experience for people. It will create a dependable environment for these autonomous vehicles to explore their full capability.
